He won an Emmy Award in 1980 in Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for Lou Grant (episode: Cop). He was born in Champaign, Illinois. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois. He worked as a producer-director at Channel 6, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, IN.
